We are a home infusion pharmacy and work with home care agencies in the areas we cover
We have been asked to consider working with the home care nurses to educate them in placing midlines in the home for medications that are appropriate to give peripherally ( I know the whole pH and osmolality thing)
Are you placing either the "standard" midlines (about 8 inches longer terminating in the auxillary region) or the newer extended dwell catheters (about 3 inches long example the powerwand) in the home?
If so what are you doing as far as barriers an draping for these insertions?
Would you be willing to share your policies and procedures with me?
Helpful hints and mindfields to avoid as we go forward
Thank you
Ann Marie
