Breast tissue IV

Is it appropriate when IV access is hard to find to place IVs in breast tissue? I am not able to find this any where in the INS standards and really question if this is appropriate. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

 Thanks Keith for the

Thanks Keith for the compliment. In my opinion, it is totally wrong, wrong, wrong to use visible chest, breast, or abdominal wall veins for insertion of a PIV. Many reasons, and chief among them is a total lack of evidence on their use. With so much visualziation technology now available - nIR and US - there is no excuse to use these veins.
