PeterPICC vs Blue phantom

We are looking at purchasing a practice model to aid in teaching PIV inerstion with US. Initially I was looking at the Blue. phantom vein blocks, then discovered the PeterPICC model. Yes the latter is little more expensive but allows little more training as far as PICC insertion and practice. Does anyone have any thoughts, experience, or preferences with these two products?

Ultrasound PIV

I think both are great tools but for US PIV insertion the Blue Phantom is by far the better choice. This will allow the nurses to practice needle positioning via ultrasound and also to cannulate the "vein" under US guidance. The key to successful US PIV insertion is needle visualization not blood return, so for this the Blue Phantom is the way to go. I have no connection to either company but use both products. Good Luck!

For ultrasound practice

Peter PICC is not designed to be used with ultrasound, you will not be able to use the utrasound machine to visualize insertion of your needle with this model.  It is designed for PICC insertion simulation using a landmark method.

Blue phantoms are the only device that I am aware of that allows the use of ultrasound to provide hands on practice for the learner.  Worth the investment for ultrasound practice.
