Hi Lynn,
Will hospitals be made to have IV/PICC teams if refered to CDC guideline from pages 25-26? Thank you for your input.
Following the CDC guidelines is a voluntary process. There is nothing that can compel or mandate that any facility adhere to them. However, this is one of the most important documents for preventing infections. And now that hospitals are not being paid for hospital acquired catheter infections, it only makes sense to follow them. This document is also used in legal cases involving infection. Unfortunately this statement about IV teams is not new to this document as it was also in the 2002 document. I wish I could say that this is all that is needed but sadly, it is not. Lynn
