I would like to know if there are any RN Vascular Access Teams placing radial artery catheters. I know of some Respiratory-based teams that are placing them, but have not heard about any RN Teams. I could not find any position papers from any organizations, either. Does anyone have a written procedure using ultrasound guidance for arterial catheter placement?
This is included in the INS Standards as being within the scope of practice for RNs. I just can't refer you to a facility with any p&p, sorry, Lynn

There was a poster done by Jennifer McCord from Cincinnatti Ohio on her hospitals experience fo the PICC Team taking over the art line placements.

I just recently got approval to place arterial lines as well as non-tunneled Central venous access devices (CVADs). I am still being mentored by or surgeons and PA's. I've placed 8 CVAD's and 1 Art line. I wrote a Standard Procedure which took a few months to get through the layers of approval processes. I would be happy to share if you'd like a copy.
