I am wondering what the favored source is for determination of IV compatabilities. I do not work in an institution that provides this on their intra-net. I know the new grads have neat hand-held devices that offer this information, even with regular updates. I thought asking all you Infusion nurses would be a rich source of options.
Thanks for sharing,
Kathleen
For a book, 2011 Intravenous Medications by Gahart is updated annually and a great resource. Older editions can be found on Amazon.com and Ebay.com, and may still be pretty helpful. You should always check with your pharmacist regarding infusing multiple medications, they will always have the most updated compatibility information.

Intravenous Medications by Gahart and Nazareno is my go-to book for most everything related to IV meds. There are additional well known pharmacy references on compatibility. Trissel's Handbook on Injectable Drugs is one. Larry Trissel is the most proliferic researcher on drug compatibility. Published by ASHP. There is also one by King, which can have quarterly updates. Thank you! Is anyone using an electronic that is reliable for this?
Kathleen Wilson, CRNI
We use Micromedex. It is very easy to use when trying to determine if meds are compatible.
